June 14, 2008 - Williamston Hornets Win 2nd Place in State Championship
The Williamston Varsity Girls Soccer Team took 2nd place in the
MHSAA Division 3 championship, June 14, 2008. The Hornets tied Hudsonville
Unity Chrisitian 1-1 at the end of regulation play. Unfortunately
Unity scored on a header with less than 4 minutes remaining in the
sudden death overtime period. Congratulations to all of the girls
and head coach Jim Flore on an outstanding season!

June 11, 2008 - Williamston Wins State Semi-Final
The Williamston Varsity Girls Soccer Team advances to the state
finals after a hard won battle that ended in a penalty kick shootout
against Detroit Country Day. The final score was 1-0 after a 3-2
shootout advantage on Wednesday, June 11.

June 6, 2008 - Williamston Wins Regional Championship
Williamston captured the Regional Championship by defeating
Flint Powers 2-1 on Friday, June 6 with goals by Victoria Beasley
and Lisa Vogel. Way to go girls! Williamston advanced after beating
Saginaw Nouvel Catholic Central 5-0 on Tuesday, June 3.

Williamston wins the District Title beating Laingsburg-Bath
2-0, Lansing Catholic 5-0 and Ovid-Elsie 3-0.

May 22, 2008 - CAAC Cup
Williamston wins the CAAC Championship beating undefeated DeWitt
3-1 on Thursday, May 22. This was the first ever post season competition
between the league winners from each division in the CAAC. Williamston
reached the championship game by defeating East Lansing 3-2; and
Lumen Christi 4-0.

May 19, 2008 - U8 Boys Finish Spring 4-1-0
Eastside U8 boys coached by Mark Topp finished their spring season
with a 4-1-0 record. The team beat Okemos, East Lansing, Haslett
and Dansville. Way to go guys!

April 19, 2008 - Williamston Takes 2nd in Spring Shootout
Williamston High School girls soccer team hosted the Spring Shootout
on Saturday, April 19. Top teams from around the state gathered
at the Williamston Soccer Complex for the tournament. Our girls
easily advanced to the finals after victories over Frankenmuth and
Detroit Country Day. The final against Flint Powers had Williamston
down 0-2 at the half. Two goals scored by Victoria Beasley tied
up the game at the end of regulation time. The winner was determined
by a shootout. Williamston took the 2nd Place trophy. The day ended
with a great exhibition game between Aquinas College and Saginaw
Valley State University. Saginaw Valley, with goals by WHS alumni
Jacqueline Barrett, won. A fun time was had by all. Congratulations
Hornets!

October 19, 2007 - Williamston Hornets Win Districts
Congratulations to the WHS Varsity Boys Soccer Team for winning
Districts. The team beat Delton-Kellogg 2-0 on Friday 10/19/07 advancing
to the District Final. The final was played Saturday 10/20/07; WHS
Hornets versus Lansing Catholic. The Hornets won 3-2. Great job
guys! The Hornets now advance to Regionals with the first game against
Gross Ile scheduled to be played in Williamston. Jackson Lumen Christie
plays Detroit Country Day in the other Regional game.

October 5, 2008 - Williamston Takes League Championship
The Williamston Hornets soccer team takes the 2007 CAAC White Division
League Championship undefeated. Congratulations guys! Williamston
plays Grand Ledge Tuesday Oct. 9 in CAAC Post-season tournament.

September 8, 2007 - Fall Soccer Shootout
Saturday, September 8th, the Williamston Soccer Boosters hosted
the 6th annual high school boys Fall Soccer Shootout. This year’s
tournament showcased varsity and JV teams from Williamston, South
Haven, Detroit Country Day, and Frankenmuth, as well as varsity
teams from Jackson Lumen Christi and Richmond High Schools. Additional
JV teams from Jackson High School and Milan High School rounded
out the 12 team tournament.
In the JV tournament, South Haven and Detroit Country Day played
their way into the championship game. With the score tied 2-2 at
the end the regulation, the contest was eventually decided by a
penalty kick shootout, with South Haven coming out on top to win
the Championship. Jackson High School defeated Williamston 2-0 to
finish 3rd and Frankenmuth played to a 3-1 victory over Milan to
take 5th place. Williamston finished in 4th place with a 1-2 record.
In their preliminary games the JV Hornets defeated Frankenmuth by
a score of 4-1, but were unsuccessful against Detroit Country Day,
losing 2-0. Other preliminary game scores included Jackson over
Milan, 4-0; South Haven over Milan, 5-0 and Jackson, 3-0 and Detroit
Country Day over Frankenmuth, 5-1.
Williamston freshmen Drew Hiner and DJ Bender were named to the
12 man All-Tournament Team, with Bender being selected as the overall
Tournament MVP.
With 5 of the participating teams currently ranked in the Division
3 State Top Ten, the Varsity tournament was full of exciting competition
throughout the day. The championship game featured Detroit Country
Day against South Haven High School, with Country Day winning with
a score of 2-1. Williamston played to a third place finish with
an exciting come from behind win over defending Division 3 State
Champion, Richmond. The Hornets were down 2-0 at the half, but with
goals from Brad Walters, David Vargovich and Peter Schall, took
the lead, 3-2 in the 2nd half. With very little time remaining,
Richmond was able to score, which left the game tied at the end
of regulation. Williamston, however, earned the victory after a
penalty kick shootout. Williamston also had a win over Frankenmuth,
1-0 and lost to Detroit Country Day, 3-0. Fifth place was won by
Jackson Lumen Christi with a 2-1 win over Frankenmuth. Other tournament
scores included Jackson Lumen Christi over Richmond 1-0, Detroit
Country Day over Frankenmuth 2-0, Jackson Lumen Christi tied South
Haven 1-1, and South Haven over Richmond 3-0. (Summary

Williamston seniors Anthony Sovis, Jimmy Clark, and David Vargovich
were named to the Varsity All-tournament Team, which was selected
by the coaches.

April 30, 2007 - Williamston Flash dominate U12 girls at Lansing
Indoor Sports Arena
Williamston Flash GREEN finished their indoor season with a hard
fought win
over a huge roster of Mason Heat players on 4/28/07. The 3-2 victory
in the
championship play-off game gave Flash GREEN a perfect 8-0-0 record
scoring
a total of 49 goals and giving up just 7. There was no time for
celebration
as the third place play-off game followed immediately for Williamston
Flash
WHITE. Flash WHITE played to a convincing 8-3 win over
St. Johns Redwings
to finish their season 4-3-1 taking third place among 7 teams in
the
league. Congratulations to the outstanding Flash players for these
two fine
achievements!

June 3, 2006 - Undefeated WSC Flash Win CASL U11 Championship
The WSC Flash finished their 2006 spring season undefeated taking
the champoinship in the CASL U11 girls blue division. The girls
scored 37 goals and allowed only 3 to finish with a record of 7
wins, 1 tie and no losses. The girls have worked very hard for the
past 10 months to build skills, tactics and heart and are truly
deserving of this title - the first ever for this group!

May 20, 2006 - Williamston Flash U11 girls
The Williamston Flash U11 girls played in the U12 division of the
Eagles Sports 4V4 Soccer Wars tournament on 5/20/06. The team was
undefeated and unscored upon in round robbin and championship play
taking first place in the U12 girls division. Emily Nemeth took
first place in the Goalie Wars competition defeating 10 other U12
boys and girls by making 14 saves in 15 shots on goal with the most
brutal shots coming from her own teammates!

The team included: Brianne Belanger, Hannah Davis, Krista Dickerson,
Emma Grooms, Emily Nemeth and Kortney Smith.

May 20, 2006 - 3rd Grade Girls Finish 4-1-0
The 3rd grade girls first group finish their spring Eastside season
with a 4-1-0 record beating out Okemos, Holt, East Lansing and Mason.
A total of 16 goals were scored by Michelle Smith (6), Jennifer
Baker (4), Marie Hetherington (2), Karla Kemp (2), Rebekah Shoemaker
(1) and Sydney Palmer (1). Assists performed by Jennifer Baker (3),
Malorie Christi (2), Michelle Smith (1), Marie Hetherington (1),
Karla Kemp (1), Briana Wisely (1), Sydney Palmer (1), Paige Jorgensen
and Maggie McGoff.
