There will be training throughout the summer. Everyone is welcome
and encouraged to attend any or all of the scheduled training events
at the high school practice fields.

The following training activities will prepare the high school
soccer player for fall tryouts. The coaching staff encourages prospective
team members to practice these regularly throughout the summer so
the player will be familiar with them by tryouts. A power point

Fitness Run
The fitness run will be performed three times during the course
of the season. The fitness run will be conducted as follows:
- 100-yard run completed in 18 seconds.
- Return to starting line within 30 seconds.
- 30 second rest before next run.
- 1 sprint = run down & back within time.
- Additional 15 seconds rest at #4 and #7.
- Each time must be met to continue.

2. Long Serve/Long Reception
| - Pick your partner
- 2 grids – 10 x 10
- Back edge of grids will be 40 yds apart
- Front edge of grids will be 20 yds apart
- Player A serves to player B IN THE AIR
- If served in the grid in the air player A earns 1 pt.
- If player B can settle the ball (game speed) – player B earns 1 pt.
- Now player B serves back to player A and scoring is reversed
- 5 service opportunities by each player (total of 10 balls served)

3. Distance Kick
- 10 balls kicked for distance: 5 balls with each foot
- Where the ball lands from the air is the distance marked
- The average of each foot will be added together
4. Shooting Power
- 8 balls shot into the goal: 4 with each foot
- Radar gun will be used to measure MPH
- Establish an average and highest speed
- Best score (right foot) + best score (left foot) = Total Score
5. Figure 8 Dribbling
- Player starts behind the line.
- He dribbles the ball in a figure 8 around two cones.
- The cones are 10 yds apart.
- Each player will take 3 one-minute runs with different dribbling surface restrictions: just inside of the feet, then just the outside of the feet, and lastly both inside and outside of both feet.
- He is timed to see how many laps he can do in 1 minute.
- If he uses the wrong surface there is a ¼ point penalty.

Procedure:
- 1st whistle: within 30 seconds from start position cover 150m (running) to wait zone,
wait for second whistle.
- 2nd whistle: within 40 seconds from wait zone cover 50m (walking) to start,
wait for next whistle.
- Repeat
- 1 lap = Start A to Start A or Start B to Start B within established times.
- Minimum 10 laps
